Advanced Cardiac Diagnostics with 3T MRI
3T MRI offers better enhanced cardiac imaging when compared to 1.5T MRI. The improved resolution leads to a more accurate diagnosis and evaluation of various conditions such as heart failure, congenital heart disease and myocardial scarring. 3T MRI provides better myocardial perfusion imaging, delayed enhancement and blood flow assessment. The detailed images of the heart’s anatomy and function aid in the diagnosis of critical conditions.
The higher magnet strength of 3T MRI compared to 1.5T MRI allows for greater signal to noise ratio (SNR) which provides better detailed imaging. The improved SNR increases spatial or temporal resolution and decreases acquisition time of the scan sequences.
The 3T MRI at Restorative Imaging is a wide bore which is larger and shorter, ideal for patients who struggle with claustrophobia. The cost is the same for a 1.5T MRI imaging procedure vs a 3T MRI imaging procedure. Patient time on the 3T scanner is sometimes less than a 1.5T MRI. The shorter time on the table minimizes the need for repeat sequences due to motion by the patient.
